Police Officer Injured After Intoxicated Driver Hits Patrol Car

WKW has settled a dram shop case for an IMPD officer who was injured when an intoxicated person smashed into her patrol car after the intoxicated person had just left an Indianapolis bar on the north side of town. The injured female officer missed work for a substantial period but since then has recovered enough to return to work. The case was filed against both the intoxicated motorist and the bar for allegedly serving the motorist while he was visibly intoxicated. WKW attorney Bill Winingham obtained surveillance video from the bar showing the consumption of numerous drinks by the intoxicated person while at the bar. The case was settled at mediation.
