Kent Winingham Receives 2020 Max Goodwin Young Lawyer Award

Updated March 1, 2024 | By Wilson Kehoe Winingham staff

Kent Winingham was awarded the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association (ITLA) 2020 Max Goodwin Young Lawyer Award—an honor given to only one young lawyer in Indiana each year.

Since moving back to Indiana in 2017 after practicing in Chicago for two years, Kent has established a nursing home negligence practice at Wilson Kehoe Winingham while continuing his general medical malpractice and personal injury practice. Even when taking on very difficult cases, Kent has found tremendous success.

Kent has proved to be a successful trial lawyer in Indiana, trying a variety of types of cases. In the past year alone, Kent has won two difficult trials and recovered nearly $800,000 for his clients. Each trial was sharply disputed and well-defended by opposing counsel. Kent’s trials have typically involved clients whose injuries were the result of medical malpractice, motor vehicle collisions, or nursing home negligence.

Kent has had a variety of professional accomplishments to date. He is a graduate of the Indiana State Bar Association’s (ISBA) Leadership Development Academy (Class VII), he has been honored as a Super Lawyers Rising Star, and he was named one of fifteen Up and Coming Lawyers in Indiana Lawyer’s 2019 “Leadership in Law” class.

Adding to his professional accomplishments, Kent is a vital member of the Indianapolis community and a strong ITLA advocate. He is a member of the Goodwill Young Leaders Board, Indianapolis Bar Foundation’s Executive Board, Indianapolis Bar Association’s Young Lawyer Division Executive Board; serves as Chair of the ISBA’s Lawyer Advertising Ethics Committee; and serves as Treasurer of the Park Tudor Alumni Association.

Kent is a genuine leader and advocate for his clients, and he is a proud and deserving recipient of the 2020 Max Goodwin Young Lawyer of the Year.

Max Goodwin, an Indiana trial lawyer and past president of ITLA, had an untiring, unrelenting devotion to clients and their circumstances. He had a never-give-up attitude when it came to justice for his clients. His intelligent, yet practical approach to legal and life problems made him the type of total person that all lawyers admire. He made us proud to be trial lawyers.
