Baby Matters LLC or Berwyn, Pa. announced a voluntary recall of all models of Nap Nanny and Nap Nanny Chill infant recliners and covers in June 2013. From 2009 to 2014, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) received at least 92 incident reports, including six infants who died while using the infant recliners. According to the incident reports, infants hung or fell over the sides of the products.Nap-Nanny-624x361

The CPSC urges consumers to immediately dispose and discontinue use of the products. It’s estimated that about 165,000 of the products were sold between 2009 and 2012.

Federal law bans any person from selling the Nap Nanny, or any other products subjected to a publicly-announced voluntary recall by a manufacturer or a mandatory recall ordered by the Commission.

To report a dangerous product or a product-related injury go online to or call CPSC’s Hotline at 800-638-2772.

The manufacturer has a duty to provide a safe product. In pursuing a product liability case, a plaintiff generally must show that a manufacturer breached that duty through defective design or that the injury was a direct result of the defect.
