WKW proudly sponsored WISH-TV’s Gr8 Paper Push for the second year in a row. This year, the Gr8 Paper Push school supply drive helped raise thousands of dollars and collected tens of thousands of school supply items for more than 200 schools.
Every year, Wish-TV teams up with Teachers’ Treasures—a local non-profit school supply store offering teachers the opportunity to shop for supplies at no cost to them—to help teachers provide for their students and classrooms.
On average, teachers spend between $500 and $1,000 of their own money on school supplies every year, but Teachers’ Treasures lessens that burden. This year, with the help of Two Men and a Truck, the News 8 team visited more than 20 companies in the Indianapolis area as part of the school supply drive. The supplies these companies donated will help over 200 schools, 2,400 teachers, and 100,000 students.
The drive would not have been a success without the help of central Indiana businesses. We encourage businesses to get involved and make the Gr8 Paper Push school supply drive an annual tradition
In Indianapolis, over 100,000 students are affected by poverty, meaning many unfortunately start the year without the supplies they need. Although the drive was held on August 1, there are still a lot of opportunities to help out.
Teachers’ Treasures always welcomes financial donations, supply donations, and volunteers. For more information, visit their website and find out how you can get involved.
