Wilson Kehoe Winingham is proud to announce the winner of the 2019 WKW Scholarship Program. After careful consideration, our panel of lawyers selected Pethpranee “Ploy” Unchit for her creative and well-written essay. Congratulations, Ploy!

Ploy is a senior at Perry Meridian High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she takes six advanced placement (AP) courses. Next year, she plans to attend college with a major in computer science and a minor in psychology, philosophy, or international relations. Ploy has a passion for science and history and is active in areas such as the environment, Internet privacy, and social justice.

In her essay on how the legal system can help with the opioid crisis, Ploy argued that “funding for non-addictive painkiller research and medication-assisted treatment can relieve the opioid crisis that adversely affects public health, social welfare, and economic welfare.” Through her scholarship, Ploy will receive $5,000 to assist with college tuition or other student expenses.

The goal of the WKW Scholarship Program is to support current and future students across Indiana and encourage those students to think critically about how the legal system can make a positive change in our community and country. It is open annually to high school seniors across Indiana.

We look forward to following Ploy’s career and wish her the best of luck at university.
