Currently, the state has a cap on damages at $1.25 million. In the instance mentioned in the article, Bruce Kehoe is currently representing an individual who underwent a botched heart surgery that destroyed his heart and led to renal failure. The client had to have a complete heart transplant. In this instance, the client’s medical bills alone exceed $5 million.
