bill-winingham WKW partner Bill Winingham has been selected by an eligible group of his peers as part of the Second District Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC) and Judicial Qualifications Commission (JQC). He will begin serving on these commissions in 2020.

Members of the JNC and JQC are responsible for evaluating all potential candidates on the Indiana Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, and Tax Court. When needed, the Commission submits a list of three candidates to the Governor, who then appoints one of the candidates to fill a vacancy. The JNC and JQC also investigates complaints against judicial ethical misconduct.

Bill has been actively engaged in trial practice, not only in Marion County, but also in many other counties in the Second District. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association and is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. He began his career as a deputy prosecutor in the Marion County Prosecutors Office, and after three years there, he became an Assistant United States Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Indiana. Prosecuting criminal cases for those six years, followed by thirty-four years in civil trial practice, taught Bill what qualities a judicial candidate should possess.

Bill has previously had the honor of serving as the Second District representative on the JNC/JQC from 2011 to 2013.

Congratulations, Bill!
