Injury Attorneys | Restoring LivesTM
As dedicated Indianapolis Personal Injury Attorneys, we believe it is important to foster positive changes within our communities and country and to support our students—both current and future. Therefore, our firm is proudly launching the WKW Scholarship Program to encourage students to share their ideas on how the legal system can help with the opioid crisis in the United States.
WKW invites students in Indianapolis and throughout Indiana to submit an essay about the opioid crisis—as it relates to the legal system—for a chance to win the WKW scholarship. Submission is open to high school seniors in the state of Indiana.
In the late 1990s, pharmaceutical companies reassured the medical community that patients would not become addicted to opioid pain relievers, and healthcare providers began prescribing them at increasing rates. This consequently led to widespread diversion and misuse of opioids before it became clear that these medications could be highly addictive. Opioid overdose rates began to increase, and as a result, over 115 Americans die every day due to overdose. This serious national crisis affects public health, social welfare, and economic welfare. So, our question to you is: How can the legal system help with the opioid crisis?
