Sixth Baby Dies While Using Nap Nanny Recliner

Baby Matters LLC announced a voluntary recall of all models of the Nap Nanny and Nap Nanny Chill infant recliners and covers in June 2013.

From 2009 to 2014, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) received at least 92 incident reports concerning these products—including six infants who died while using the infant recliners. According to the incident reports, infants hung or fell over the sides of the products.

Recalled Infant Recliners

The CPSC urges consumers to immediately dispose of and discontinue use of the products. It’s estimated that about 165,000 of the products were sold between 2009 and 2012.

Federal law bans any person from selling the Nap Nanny or any other products subjected to a publicly-announced voluntary recall by a manufacturer or a mandatory recall ordered by the Commission. You can report dangerous products online or call the CSPC hotline at 800.638.2772.

Defective Product Cases

Manufacturers have a duty to provide a safe product. In pursuing a product liability case, a plaintiff generally must show that a manufacturer breached that duty through defective design or that the injury was a direct result of the defect.
