WKW is both proud and humbled to announce that one of its partners, Bruce Kehoe, has been recognized as the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Honoree by the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association (ITLA). The award will be presented at the Lifetime Achievement Seminar during the awards luncheon on Thursday. Kehoe will be the 30th recipient of this prestigious award, which recognizes an attorney who has devoted a lifetime of distinguished service to ITLA.

How the Selection Process Works

The Lifetime Achievement Seminar awards and honors an ITLA member each year for outstanding work and a lifetime dedication to the profession. The award is, more specifically, “for an attorney who has devoted a lifetime of distinguished service to the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association and in recognition of exceptional dedication to the preservation of the Rights of the injured.”

The award is open to all attorneys; any former president of ITLA can nominate any attorney. Once the nominations are in, the past presidents vote on the honoree of the Lifetime Achievement Award. This year, Kehoe was nominated by Steve Williams and Dan Roby.

Kehoe Recognized by ITLA

Kehoe has held multiple leadership positions within the association, beginning in 1987 when he became a member of the ITLA Board of Directors. He went on to serve on the executive committee in 1999, and he served as president of the association from 2009 to 2010 as well.

“Bruce’s calm, controlled, and well-reasoned approach to the trial practice and to legal problems is just a small part of the reason I and other members of ITLA hold him in the highest regard,” said former ITLA President Steve Williams. “That is why it is my privilege and honor to nominate him for this award,” he continued.

The Lifetime Achievement Honor is not the first time Kehoe has been recognized by his peers at ITLA—he was also elected as the ITLA Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2001.

ITLA Executive Director Jason Bell is looking forward to honoring Kehoe at the 30th Annual Lifetime Achievement Seminar on May 10 and 11. He stated, “Bruce is the kind of lawyer that makes me proud to lead this organization. He is a zealous advocate for injured people around the state. He is endlessly giving of his time, talent, and treasure not only to ITLA, but also to those in need.”
