The lack of a traffic light at the intersection of United States 52 and State Highway 47, which is along the heavily trafficked Interstate 65 detour, has caused two deaths.
To solve this issue, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has coordinated with local officials to install a temporary traffic light in hopes of keeping people safe.
Boon County Sheriff Mike Nielsen is pleased with INDOT’s decision to install a temporary spotlight at the intersection: “Our goal has always been protecting our school children, the citizens, and the motorists traveling through Boon County.”
To prepare motorists for the new light, INDOT will be installing warning signs and rumble strips.
