Updated March 24, 2019 | Auto Accidents | Social Share
A newly redesigned interchange at I-65 and Worthsville Road in Greenwood, Indiana may be a bit confusing for drivers not familiar with the “diverging diamond” traffic pattern. It’s the first of this type of interchange in the area.
The new interchange design reportedly reduces crashes by eliminating the crossing of traffic lanes when making a left turn. In fact, diverging diamonds have only 14 points of contact compared to 26 for traditional interchanges. Other benefits include the following:
Additionally, the $16.1 million project will not only reduce crashes—it also gives drivers another option to get into rapidly-growing Greenwood from the interstate. If you or a loved one have been injured as a result of a car accident, you are urged to contact the attorneys of Wilson Kehoe Winingham.
