Evansville has always been an important part of my life, probably because I was born there. My parents lived in Boonville. My father was taking his first teaching job in Boonville, and I was delivered at Deaconess Hospital in a November snowstorm right before Thanksgiving.
After my undergraduate training in Indiana University, I became a physical therapist. I actually did my last clinical rotation at Deaconess Hospital, which was really quite a treat, not only because it was a nice facility but they gave us a meal ticket to the cafeteria—which when you’re in your fourth year of going to college is a real treat.
I’ve had several trials in Evansville. It’s a bit of a drive, but it’s not as bad as it used to be. The new extension really makes it convenient to get from Indianapolis down to Evansville.
