Ellie Puckett Wins 12th man Fan of the Game

WKW is proud to give the Horseshoe Hero award to Ellie Puckett.

Just after her 30th birthday, Ellie was playing with her three year old daughter. Her daughter accidentally elbowed her breast, but it was an accident that saved Ellie’s life. Ellie felt the area she had been elbowed and discovered a lump in her breast. Her OBGYN gave her a breast exam, followed by direction for further testing. She then had a mammogram and ultrasound, each showing a lump in her breast. Her MRI showed not one, but two lumps in her breast. Multiple biopsies showed they were positive for cancer.

In July of 2014, Ellie underwent a double mastectomy followed by seven months of chemotherapy at the Indiana University Health Simon Cancer Center.

Today, she is healthy and feeling great, back to work. She’s able to do all the things she did before her diagnosis. Ellie is looking forward to taking her daughter trick-or-treating this year, something she was not able to do last Halloween.

Congratulations, Ellie!
