Wrongful Death Case Against Car Manufacturer Settled
WKW and its co-counsel have settled a products liability case against a car manufacturer in which a southern Indiana teenage boy wearing a lapbelt was killed by injuries caused by the lapbelt during an accident. The other occupants in the car were not seriously hurt, but the teenage boy sitting in the center rear seat of the vehicle died from spinal cord and abdominal injuries. He was wearing a lapbelt, but there was no shoulder harness available in that seating position for him to use. It will be mandatory for cars manufactured in 2008 and after to have a shoulder harness and lap belt available for all seating positions.
