Wrecker Driver's Case Against Trucking Company Settled

A nighttime videotaped accident re-enactment depicting how the collision happened was instrumental in obtaining a substantial settlement at a federal court final pretrial conference for a wrecker driver who was struck by a semi.  The plaintiff wrecker driver was off the travel portion of an interstate helping a disabled motorist when a semi crossed the white line and hit the plaintiff, breaking his arm and leading to reflex sympathetic dystrophy (now known as complex regional pain syndrome).  The wrecker driver’s flashing lights were on and should have been visible from far away.

The view the defendant truck driver had of the lighted wrecker ahead was replicated by video footage shot from a representative semi being driven toward the accident scene.  Scratch marks on the shoulder were used to place the exact location of the vehicles to prove the semi crossed the white line.
