Industrial Mold Machine
For our client, operating a recently rebuilt mold machine at work meant placing a mold core between upper and lower mold halves. While placing a core between the halves, an upper bolt assembly failed, and the upper mold half and moveable platen fell on to his arms and hands. His left arm was severed just below the shoulder, and his right hand was amputated at the wrist. We demonstrated that the defendant rebuilding company failed to properly inspect the machine, failed to properly secure the upper platen to the hydraulic cylinder, and failed to have an adequate safety device in place to prevent a user’s hands and arms from being caught in the machine
