Baycol Linked to Serious Health Problems

By December of 1999 it was apparent that patients taking a new cholesterol-lowering medication launched in the United States in February of 1998 were experiencing serious side effects, and in some cases death.

Patients began experiencing renal failure and in many cases required dialysis from a serious side effect called rhabdomyolysis, a deterioration and breakdown of the skeletal muscles.

Our firm represented multiple individuals who were diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis. After filing lawsuits against U.S. and foreign manufacturers, the cases were consolidated for the purpose of conducting discovery. Wilson Kehoe & Winingham staff participated with counsel from other states in culling through the voluminous documents and provided the manufacturer and insurance carriers with settlement packages documenting in substantial detail our clients' claims. Our effort to pinpoint the critical laboratory findings was aided by our physician-directed medical support staff. We were successful in obtaining favorable settlements for each of our clients in this highly complex drug-liability litigation.
