Lack of Proper Lighting on Tractor-trailer

Even though a tractor-trailer pulled out from an interstate exit into the path of our client’s car, a nighttime collision could have been avoided if the flatbed trailer had been properly equipped with retro-reflective tape along its edges. The tape would have reflected the light from the car’s headlights back to the driver and shown the length of the trailer. Instead, the lack of that tape and poor lighting at the intersection caused permanent brain injuries to our client. Using vision experts, sophisticated computer tracking and monitoring equipment, and a 35 mm film crew, we filmed different accident scenarios. We established that without the proper lighting and reflective tape, the trailer could not have been seen until too late to avoid a collision.
