WKW is no longer accepting cases for Just For Men® chemical burns.
Just For Men® hair dyes have been recently linked to severe adverse reactions, even in men who have been using the dye for several years. Just For Men® hair dyes are manufactured by Combe Incorporated.
ConsumerAffairs.com has collected nearly 400 reports of serious chemical burns associated with Just For Men® hair dyes within the last 4 years.
These men have reported the following side effects:
- Chemical burns
- Cellulitis (bacterial skin infection)
- Weeping blisters and skin lesions
Some of these symptoms are fairly minor, but hospitalizations due to severe complications from Just For Men® hair dyes have also been reported.
Harsh Chemicals and Skin Reactions
The American Contact Dermatitis Society named p-Phenylenediamine (PPD), one of the main ingredients in Just For Men®, Allergen of the Year in 2006 in an effort to bring attention to the risks of severe skin reactions after exposure to the chemical in hair dyes. These reactions are especially serious in African-Americans, who tend to use darker colors of dye and thus are exposed to higher levels of PPD.
