The newly redesigned interchange at I-65 and Worthsville Road in Greenwood may be a bit confusing to drivers not familiar with the “diverging diamond” traffic pattern. The first of this type in the area, the new interchange design reportedly reduces crashes by eliminating the crossing of traffic lanes when making a left turn.
The $16.1 million project will not only reduce crashes but also gives drivers another option to get into rapidly growing Greenwood from the Interstate. INDOT will also be adding bike lanes and sidewalks to the interchange, but that portion of the project won’t be complete until spring 2016.
